RecurX vs Loop Subscriptions: An Honest Loop Alternative Comparison
Loop Subscriptions is an independent, retention-focused subscription app with a strong reputation among growing Shopify brands. RecurX covers much of the same ground for a flat monthly price with no transaction fee. Here is how the two compare, where Loop is the better choice, and how a move from Loop works.

Loop has a free plan for up to 50 subscriptions, 767 reviews and a fully managed migration at no charge. Its paid plans cost $99 + 1% or $399 + 0.75% of subscription revenue. RecurX costs $29 or $49 a month with no transaction fee and includes cancel flows, loyalty and build-a-box on both plans, but it is a newer app with a self-serve importer.
The short answer: who each app is best for
- Choose Loop if you have fewer than 50 active subscriptions (Loop is free there), you want a migration team to move you at no cost, you want a dedicated customer success manager (Pro), or you rely on its 35+ integrations such as Attentive, Smile or Stamped.
- Choose RecurX if you want to stop paying a percentage of subscription revenue, you want cancel flows, loyalty and build-a-box without a $399 plan, and you are comfortable with a newer app and a self-serve import.

What it costs at your volume
Take a store billing $20,000 a month in subscription orders with about 500 active subscribers. App costs only; Shopify’s payment processing applies whichever app you use:
| Plan | Base | Transaction fee on $20k | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loop Starter | $99 | 1.0% = $200 | $299 |
| Loop Pro | $399 | 0.75% = $150 | $549 |
| RecurX Basic | $29 | $0 | $29 |
| RecurX Pro | $49 | $0 | $49 |
Under 50 active subscriptions the answer flips: Loop’s Free Forever plan costs nothing and RecurX costs $29. Run your own numbers in the transaction-fee calculator.
Where Loop is stronger
- A free plan. Loop is free up to 50 active subscriptions; RecurX has no free plan.

How to move from Loop to RecurX
RecurX does not have a dedicated Loop connector. You bring subscriptions over with a CSV file exported from Loop:
- Set up RecurX first. Install it (14-day free trial), recreate your plans and pick a widget design.
- Export your active subscriptions from Loop to a CSV with customer email, Shopify variant ID, quantity, billing interval (unit and count) and next billing date for each one. Names, price and currency are optional columns.
- Pause billing in Loop for the subscriptions you are moving, so nobody is charged by both apps.
- Import the file. In RecurX go to Migrate and choose CSV. RecurX creates a new Shopify subscription contract for each row, with the customer, products, quantity, price, billing frequency and next billing date. An import can be rolled back.
- Get a payment method on every subscription. Imported contracts have no card attached. A customer who already has a card saved in Shopify can choose it in the RecurX customer portal; anyone else enters a card again. Tell subscribers before their next billing date.
- Check the first renewals. Contracts bill on their next billing date. Watch the first ones go through before you rely on the new setup.
- Switch the storefront. Move your product widget and portal links to RecurX, and uninstall Loop once the first renewals have billed.
What does not move: saved cards, past billing attempts and data that only your previous app uses. Your Shopify order history stays where it is.
Card details: saved cards do not carry over automatically. Customers pick a card already saved in Shopify in the customer portal, or enter a card again. To move saved payment methods from your old processor, contact Shopify Support; Shopify says this needs Shopify Plus or Enterprise (Shopify Help Center). You can book a free migration call with RecurX, and the full walkthrough is in the subscription migration guide.

Câu hỏi thường gặp
Is RecurX a good Loop Subscriptions alternative?
For stores that want to stop paying a percentage of subscription revenue, yes: RecurX is $29 or $49 a month with no transaction fee and includes cancel flows, loyalty and build-a-box on both plans. Loop is the better pick if you are under 50 subscriptions, want a managed migration or need its wider integration list.
How much does Loop Subscriptions cost?
As of 27 September 2026, Loop lists Free Forever (up to 50 active subscriptions), Starter at $99/month + 1.0% per transaction, Pro at $399/month + 0.75%, and Enterprise with negotiable pricing. Check Loop’s pricing page for current rates.
Can I move my Loop subscriptions to RecurX?
Yes, with a CSV export from Loop. RecurX has no direct Loop connector. It needs customer email, Shopify variant ID, quantity, billing interval and next billing date for each subscription, and creates a new Shopify subscription contract for each row. Pause billing in Loop first so nobody is charged twice. An import can be rolled back.
Will my subscribers have to re-enter their card details?
Plan for it. RecurX creates new subscription contracts rather than taking over Loop’s, and saved cards do not carry over automatically. A customer who already has a card saved in Shopify can choose it in the RecurX customer portal; anyone else enters a card again. To move saved cards from your old processor, contact Shopify Support; Shopify says this needs Shopify Plus or Enterprise.
Is Loop owned by Recharge?
No. Recharge acquired Skio in April 2026, not Loop. Loop describes itself as an independent, bootstrapped company. RecurX is also independent.
Does RecurX have a free plan?
No. RecurX has Basic at $29/month (up to 1,000 active subscribers) and Pro at $49/month (unlimited), each with a 14-day free trial and no transaction fee.
