Quick answer

RecurX has shipped 20 notable merchant-facing changes across 4 monthly releases since June 2026 — subscription widget placement and design, growth and bundle tools, storefront analytics, an MCP server for AI assistants, and a Bold Subscriptions migration path. Pick a month below for the detail.

September 2026Setup that gets out of your way

Most of September went on the distance between installing RecurX and selling a subscription. The widget now finds its own place on themes that build their product form late, takes your store colours without being asked, and when it genuinely cannot render, the fix is one click instead of a support thread.

  • Mounts itself on late-rendering themesThemes that build their product form after the page loads used to leave the widget with nowhere to attach. It now waits for the form and mounts when it appears.
  • Takes your theme colours automaticallyNew installs read your theme’s own button and accent colours, so the widget looks like your store before you open a settings page. Colours you have saved yourself are never overwritten.
  • One click places the blockWhen the widget cannot find anywhere to render, the fix link opens your theme editor with the block already added to the product template. You press Save.
  • Conversion diagnosisGrowth names the single earliest thing standing between your shoppers and a subscription — and says "not enough traffic yet" rather than inventing a fault when the data is thin.

August 2026Growth tools, rebuilt

August was the growth surface. Upsell rules came back, volume bundles landed as pack cards on the product page, and plans gained the minimum-commitment enforcement merchants had been asking for. The month closed with a board where merchants vote on what gets built next.

  • Growth hub, rebuiltGrowth opens with your numbers, a setup guide and every module in one place, including cart upsell and cross-sell rules.
  • 1 / 2 / 3-pack volume bundlesPack cards with product images on your product pages, with the quantity discount enforced at checkout rather than promised on the page.
  • Minimum commitmentsPer-plan minimum orders with block-or-fee enforcement, so a discount can be protected against immediate cancellation.
  • Growth analytics on real storefront dataWidget funnel, bundle picks and quiz completions measured from your own storefront, across 7, 30 and 90-day windows.

July 2026RecurX inside your AI assistant

July was about reaching RecurX from outside the admin. The MCP server went live with an OAuth 2.1 authorization server behind it, which is what lets assistant directories connect to it — so you can ask an AI assistant about your subscriptions instead of opening a dashboard.

  • MCP server with OAuth 2.1A Model Context Protocol server with a full OAuth 2.1 authorization server, which is the requirement for listing in the ChatGPT and Claude connector directories.
  • Cleaner default email templatesInactive email templates were refreshed for existing stores without touching any template a merchant had edited or switched on.

June 2026Gifts, groups, SMS and the Bold importer

June closed the remaining feature gaps against the rest of the category in one month: gifting, group plans, two-way SMS, and a migration path off Bold Subscriptions — plus live event sync into the tools merchants already run their marketing from.

  • Gift subscriptionsGive a subscription as a gift, with anti-fraud checks on redemption.
  • Group subscriptionsGroup plans with tiered discounts, so a shared or multi-member subscription prices correctly.
  • Two-way SMS managementSubscribers can manage a subscription by replying to a text, not only through the portal.
  • Bold Subscriptions importerImport existing Bold Subscriptions contracts, with deduplication so an inherited subscriber is not created twice.

Why we publish this

A subscription app holds your recurring revenue. Before you trust one with it, it is fair to ask whether anyone is still working on it. Most apps in this category answer that with a marketing page; this is the answer with dates on it. If you want the commercial comparison instead, the Recharge alternative and Skio alternative pages cover pricing and migration, and the fee calculator shows what per-order fees cost at your volume.
